BLOOMING BEAUTIFUL

This blooming tree on the north end of the club is a wonderful metaphor for all of the creative beautification projects happening this spring. Don’t miss our 160th Opening Day Party on Saturday June 13th where all of the hard work of our members will be on full display.

WORK PARTY REPORT

The new path alongside the club house was built over several days. The stone work below was done by Chris Grieco, Les, Roel, Sean, Taylor, and Tracy on May 17th. Steve, Randy, Justin and Tracy dug out the path.

And to no one’s surprise, Justin explored the excavated hole under the concrete slab, which goes all the way to the river.

CLUB BEAUTIFICATION

Maintaining and improving our house and the grounds is a constant activity. Several members took on some exciting new projects this spring, check them out below.

We are making more and more strides toward weed control on the property. Anton did this whole area.

Les drilled holes in a stump to accelerate its decay and return it to the earth from which it sprung.

Chris Grieco brings the gardening magic.

IN MEMORIUM: DAVE SCIENZE

We remember Dave Scienze, club president (1994-2003) before Tom Minozzi. He was a retired Yonkers police officer and a welder. His contributions to the club include: hoist frame, the old booms, club grill, rolling white staircase, mounts for the club bench, and finally, reattaching the circular stairs after our renovation. Our thoughts and prayers are with Dave’s family and friends, and we will always remember his tremendous contributions to the club. Below are pictures of some of the projects (and art) he welded and built.
